Respondyr vs NiceJob: which one does your business need?

NiceJob gets you more Google reviews. Respondyr answers the ones you have and asks for more. An honest comparison for small business owners picking one.

Respondyr

Owners ask us this one a lot, and lately they ask ChatGPT too: “Respondyr vs NiceJob, which should I get?” The honest answer starts with an admission. These two tools were built to fix different problems, and the right pick depends on which problem is actually yours.

NiceJob exists to get you more reviews. Respondyr exists to make sure every review you get is answered in your voice, and it asks for new ones along the way. That difference sounds small. It changes everything about what happens after a customer hits submit.

What NiceJob does well

Credit where it’s due. NiceJob is affordable, simple to set up, and well liked in home services. Its core move is the automated ask: after a job, it sends your customer an email and text sequence nudging them to leave a Google review, with follow-ups if they don’t. It’s good at that, and the follow-up sequences are more elaborate than a single request.

If your problem is “we do great work and have 11 reviews to show for it,” a generation tool attacks that problem directly.

The gap: who answers the reviews?

Here’s where the two tools split. Once a review lands on Google, NiceJob’s job is done. Responding is still yours. You log in, you write the reply, or nobody does.

Most owners don’t. The average small business responds to about half of its Google reviews, and almost none on nights or weekends. A generation tool pointed at that business adds more reviews to the unanswered pile, and every silent review is a public question with no answer next to it.

The irony is that responding is itself a generation strategy. Businesses that started answering their reviews saw a 0.12-star rating increase and 12% more reviews coming in (Proserpio and Zervas, Marketing Science, 2017). Customers leave more reviews when they can see the owner is reading them. Asking gets you reviews once. Answering keeps them coming.

What Respondyr does

When a new review hits your Google Business Profile, Respondyr reads it and drafts a response in your brand voice, referencing what the customer actually wrote. Nothing posts without you by default: drafts wait for your approval, and you can turn on auto-post per star rating for the reviews you trust it to handle. When a rough one lands, you get a text with a link to that exact review, so a 1-star never sits unanswered while you’re on a job. The dashboard is there when you want it. You don’t have to live in it.

And because “get more reviews” still matters, Get Reviews is on Basic and above: your own branded review link, a printable QR code, and direct send by text or email. It’s a straight ask rather than NiceJob’s multi-touch sequences, and for most single-location businesses the ask plus a visible pattern of owner replies does the job.

On the Business plan you also get Reputation Defense. When a review looks like it breaks Google’s policies, spam, fake, a competitor with a grudge, Respondyr spots it, alerts you, and walks you through flagging it to Google. It doesn’t remove reviews, nobody can promise that, but it means policy-breaking reviews get contested instead of ignored. A generation tool has no answer for the fake 1-star at all. More reviews doesn’t fix a review that shouldn’t be there.

So which one?

If reviews arrive and get answered the same day already, and volume is your only gap, NiceJob is a fair pick. We’d rather tell you that than win a bad-fit customer.

But if reviews are sitting unanswered right now, get the response side handled first. 63.6% of consumers check Google reviews before visiting a business (BrightLocal), and what they find is your queue of silent 4-stars and one ignored 1-star. Fixing that changes what every future customer sees, and it quietly grows your review count too.

Respondyr covers both sides of it: every review answered in your voice, Get Reviews bringing in fresh ones, and Reputation Defense watching for the ones that fight dirty. See the plans or get started, month to month, no contract.
