The five business listings owners skip after Google

You claimed your Google Business Profile. Five more listings are sitting out there, and AI assistants read them. How to knock all five out in one afternoon.

You claimed your Google Business Profile. Good. There are five more business listings sitting out there with your name on them, and the last two are the ones people skip.

These aren’t busywork. 82% of consumers use their smartphone to search for businesses near them (Google, 2023), and the tools doing the answering have changed. AI assistants pull from a wider set of sources than the old Google-only game, and several of these listings feed them directly.

The five listings, and why each one matters now

1. Bing Places. Bing gets treated as the search engine nobody uses, which misses what happened: ChatGPT’s web search is built on Bing’s index. When someone asks ChatGPT for a plumber, the pages it can see came through Bing. An unclaimed Bing listing means the second-biggest answer machine on earth is working from guesses.

2. Apple Maps. Every iPhone ships with it as the default, and almost nobody claims their business there. Half your customers are getting directions to you through a listing you’ve never looked at.

3. Yelp. Whatever you think of Yelp, this year changed the math: Yelp licensed its 330 million reviews and 8 million business listings to OpenAI, so ChatGPT now serves Yelp ratings, reviews, and photos in local answers. Your Yelp page isn’t only a Yelp page anymore.

4. Better Business Bureau. The listing is free. Accreditation is the paid part, and it’s a separate decision you can skip. Owners hear “BBB costs money” and never find out the basic listing doesn’t.

5. Yellow Pages. One submission, and their network pushes your info out to the other sites they feed on its own. Lowest effort per site of anything on this list.

How to knock out all five in one afternoon

Start with Bing. Go to Bing Places and use the import from Google option. It pulls your whole profile over, and you just confirm everything came through right.

Apple is Apple Business Connect. Sign in with an Apple ID, search your business, claim it. Sometimes they verify with a phone call to the business number, so answer the phone.

On Yelp, search before you create anything. Your page probably already exists. Somebody uploaded a photo or left a review years ago, and Yelp built a page around it. Claim that one instead of making a new one. Two listings for one business is worse than none.

On BBB, find your business or add it and fill out the free listing. When the accreditation upsell comes after, you can ignore it. The listing already did the job.

Yellow Pages is one form. Fill it out once and let their network do the distribution.

The rule that makes or breaks all five

On every single one, copy your name, address, and phone from your Google profile character for character. Not from memory. “Suite 200” versus “Ste 200” matters to a machine trying to decide whether two listings are the same business, and machines are the audience now.

That’s also the reason to be careful here: wrong info on these sites hurts you more than a missing listing does. A directory that says you’re closed Mondays when you’re not, or shows your old address, doesn’t just lose you that one customer. It makes every system reading the web less sure about which facts about your business are true.

What happens after you claim them

Reviews start landing in more places. That’s the point, and it’s also the new work: the profiles feeding AI assistants are the ones with recent reviews and owner responses, not the ones that got claimed once and went quiet.

That part is what Respondyr does all day. Every Google review gets a response drafted in your voice for your approval, and Get Reviews gives you a branded link and QR code on Basic and above so the fresh ones keep coming. On the Business plan, multi-platform review sources bring your Tripadvisor reviews into the same inbox with drafts ready to post.
