Common questions
- How is this calculated?
- Straight math on averages. If your current rating is R across N reviews and you want to reach target T, every new 5-star review pulls the average up by (5 - R) / (N + 1) and shrinking amounts after that. The calculator solves for the smallest number of 5-star reviews that lifts the true average to your target.
- Why does my Google rating not move when I get new reviews?
- Volume. At 200 reviews, one new 5-star moves a 4.2 average by about 0.004. Google also rounds the displayed rating to one decimal, so nothing visibly changes until the true average crosses the next rounding step. The fix is steady review velocity, not one good week.
- Does Google round the displayed rating?
- Yes, to one decimal. A true average of 4.449 displays as 4.4 and 4.450 displays as 4.5. This calculator targets the true average, so hitting your target here is what makes the displayed number change.
- Can I get to a perfect 5.0?
- Only if every single review you have is 5 stars. One 4-star review makes a true 5.0 mathematically impossible no matter how many 5-star reviews you add. Aim for 4.7 to 4.9, which is where high-trust local businesses live.
- How do I actually get the reviews this says I need?
- Ask at the moment the customer is happiest, and make it one tap. Our free Google review link and QR code generator gives you a direct link and a printable QR code so asking takes seconds.
