Sales Representative, Small Business
Company: Respondyr Independent contractor (1099) Field sales, every US metro Flexible schedule
Job overview
We are looking for motivated, self-driven sales representatives to help local business owners (restaurants, gyms, barbers, clinics, home services, and more) win more customers from their Google presence.
In this role you visit local businesses in your metro, introduce our automated review-response and local-rank platform, build real relationships with owners and decision makers, and demo the product live at the counter on your laptop or phone. We're hiring in every metro in the United States, and more than one rep per metro. Tell us where you are in the application.
The pitch itself is simple, and we train you on exactly how to run it: get the owner to do the math on what being invisible in local search is costing him, then hand him the single highest lever he actually controls, his prominence. Show him what he's losing, let him say where it hurts, then show him the fix.
Why Respondyr sells (the value to businesses)
You aren't selling review generation. You're selling active engagement, local search authority, and clear owner reporting:
- Activity moves local rankings. Review responsiveness, recency, and velocity are among the only local-ranking inputs an owner actually controls, and most owners control none of them. Respondyr handles all three automatically, same day, in the owner's voice.
- Responses win the next customer. When people read reviews, thoughtful answers from management are what make a business stand out over the competitor up the street.
- Map pack rank tracking. The owner's local search position measured on an actual map, point by point around the shop, and re-scanned so he watches himself climb.
- AI profile optimization. Profile fixes proposed from Google's own data about what people searched before finding him, with every version of his profile saved.
- Owners see the proof. Recurring reports on what customers keep praising and what keeps costing them.
- Reviews that break Google's policies get flagged for removal. Every owner has one unfair one-star that keeps him up at night.
- Effortless for the owner. Nobody has time to answer reviews at 11pm after closing. That's the whole pitch, and the founder demos it at restaurant counters himself. It hasn't gotten a no in person yet.
Compensation: guaranteed ramp, then uncapped residuals
- $500 a week, guaranteed, until you ramp. The guarantee stays in place until your residual commissions grow past it (about $2,000 a month). Then it steps aside and the book you built is the paycheck.
- 25% recurring commission on collected revenue for every account you source yourself, 15% on leads we hand you, paid monthly for the life of the account. Most accounts land on our $149 Business tier, which pays you $37.25 every month it stays.
- Uncapped, and it compounds. Every month's closes stack on top of every previous month's book.
Multi-location businesses multiply it: every plan is priced per location and supports up to 12, so one 12-location close can pay you $447 every month by itself. The math from there is yours to run, and it compounds.
Key responsibilities
- Local prospecting: visit businesses in your metro and get in front of owners, general managers, and decision makers
- Live demos: show, don't just tell. Walk the owner through the platform on your laptop or phone, right at the counter
- Relationship building: understand each owner's customer-retention goals and local market before pitching
- Account sign-ups: guide interested owners through checkout and onboarding on the spot
- Pipeline management: track visits, follow-ups, and prospects honestly. When someone says stop contacting them, we stop forever.
Qualifications and requirements
- Required equipment: reliable laptop, smartphone, and a way to get around your metro
- Experience, in order of priority: direct sales or B2B outreach, then customer service, then retail or face-to-face customer work. You should know your daily numbers (doors, dials, sits, closes) from your last gig.
- Communication: comfortable cold-walking into a business and starting a conversation with a stranger
- Self-motivated: you set your schedule and run your own day; your activity and your closes are what we judge
